Adopting a cat

Every cat we rescue is waiting for the last line of the story: a home. It starts with a phone call.

01 How to start

Four steps, and the first is a conversation.

We are a small local charity, not a large shelter with an online gallery or application form. Adopting from us starts by talking to us.

If you are not sure yet whether a cat is right for you, call anyway. We would rather talk it through early.

  1. 1

    Get in touch

Call us on 07449 370133, or write to us at 24 Redland Lane, Westbury, Wiltshire BA13 3QA.

  2. 2

    Tell us about you

Tell us a little about your home and the kind of cat or kitten you are hoping for. We will tell you about the cats in our care.

  3. 3

    Ask us anything

We will explain how our homing works and what happens next, including anything we ask of new owners. If you have a question, ask it then.

  4. 4

    Home time

When the right cat and the right home meet, the chalk line ends where it should: by a warm window.

02 What to expect

In plain terms.

We will not pretend to know your questions before you ask them. Here is what we can say for certain.

  • Cats and kittens

We rescue both unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens, so ask about either.

  • No online list

We do not publish a list of cats online. Call us to ask who is in our care right now.

  • Across Wiltshire

We are based in Westbury and our area of operation is Wiltshire.

  • Call before visiting

We do not publish opening hours. Please ring before you come to see us.

03 Fostering

Could you offer a cat a stopover?

Some people help by looking after a cat for a while in their own home, before it goes on to a new one. If you could offer a spare room and some time, ask us whether fostering is something we can use help with at the moment, and what it would involve.

04 Can’t keep your cat?

Talk to us first.

Our work is for unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens. If you can no longer keep your cat, call us and talk it through. We will tell you honestly whether we can help.

I have found a cat. Can you help?
